Offering robotic-assisted surgery

Adventist Health Portland offers robotic-assisted surgery with two state-of-the-art da Vinci surgical systems. Robotic-assisted surgery offers an alternative that many of our patients are finding fits their needs better than traditional surgery options.

Our talented surgeons and surgical teams perform some of the most complex surgeries in Portland. We continually embrace new technology to ensure as many patients as possible can enjoy the benefits of minimally invasive surgery. Benefits include industry-leading low surgical site infections, as well as:

  • More precise procedures
  • Minimal scarring
  • Less pain
  • Faster recovery
  • Fewer side effects

How robotic-assisted surgery works

Instead of a long incision, the surgeon makes incisions that are just one to two centimeters (less than an inch). The robot's arms, which hold the surgical instruments, and a camera are inserted through these tiny incisions.

The camera inside your body magnifies the picture 10 times and transmits the 3D, high-definition image so your surgeon has an excellent view. The maneuverability, precise reactions of the robot and visual clarity make it possible for your surgeon to operate confidently, with no need for a large incision.
