Diagnostic Testing

Adventist Health Portland’s audiology department performs diagnostic hearing evaluations for everyone ages five and older. Depending on your insurance, we may need a referral from your primary care provider.

Our full diagnostic hearing evaluation determines what type of hearing loss you have and how severe it is. If needed, we can also refer you to an ear specialist or let you know if you need hearing aids.

During your one-hour appointment, we will ask you questions about your hearing problems and your general health. Then we will test your hearing inside a sound-treated booth.

As you listen to tones and speech, we will measure your hearing. Your audiologist will make a graph of the results and then explain what they found. You can even take a copy of the results home with you.
