Welcome to the Nancy Reagan Breast Center of Adventist Health Simi Valley, where our dedicated staff members are immensely proud of the rich tradition of providing women with quality care and service. We remain just as devoted today to the prevention, detection and treatment of breast disease as we were in 1994 when Mrs. Reagan generously provided her name and guidance in creating this featured health service benefiting women throughout Ventura County.

Breast Imaging Center of Excellence

The Nancy Reagan Breast Center is one of the first facilities in Ventura County to be designated a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence by the American College of Radiology (ACR). That designation certifies that the Nancy Reagan Breast Center has earned accreditation in mammography, stereotactic breast biopsy and breast ultrasound (including ultrasound-guided breast biopsy).

Peer-review evaluations conducted by board-certified physicians and medical physicists who are experts in the field have determined that the Nancy Reagan Breast Center has achieved high practice standards in image quality, personnel qualifications, facility equipment, quality control procedures and quality assurance programs.

Accreditation is required for any facility to provide mammography services. However, accreditation in stereotactic breast biopsy and breast ultrasound are voluntary and represent extra effort and meticulous management of those services.

Advanced technology

The Nancy Reagan Breast Center uses digital technology, the most current and state-of-the-art technology used in the field of digital and 3D mammography today. With digital pictures, our physicians can zoom in on, magnify and optimize different parts of the breast tissue in the picture without having to take an additional image.

In terms of preparation, positioning and the look of the machine, the patient experience is unchanged. However, the result of the test offers several advantages, including a more powerful diagnosis. Included in the advantages are:

• Fewer patients called back for additional pictures
• Less anxiety, as pictures are generated immediately
• Less time for appointments, as results are obtained faster
• The ability for physicians to magnify and optimize mammography results

Nurse navigators

Adventist Health Simi Valley's oncology-certified nurse navigators walk with breast cancer patients through their entire treatment journey and beyond. They help to facilitate the treatment process, refer patients to community resources and prepare the patient for life after treatment.
