Depending on your symptoms, health history and physical exam, your gastroenterologist may run tests to detect what is going on in your digestive system. Once your condition is diagnosed, your gastroenterologist will develop a personalized treatment plan. Treatments may include dietary and lifestyle changes, medications, endoscopic procedures, or surgical procedures.
GI lab tests and procedures
At our gastroenterology laboratory — known as the GI Lab — our specialists use a variety of tools and procedures to examine segments of your digestive system. Most of our procedures are minimally invasive, which means that few or no incisions are needed, and you can return home the same day. Our tests and procedures include:
- Colonoscopy
- Flexible sigmoidoscopy
- Upper endoscopy
- ERCP (examination of bile ducts, gallbladder, and related structures)
- Blood and stool tests
We also provide feeding tube placement for patients who have difficulty eating or swallowing due to certain conditions.
