GI lab and gastroenterology in Simi Valley
In Adventist Health Simi Valley's gastroenterology laboratory — better known as the GI lab — physician specialists utilize a variety of tools and procedures to examine segments of the continuous passageway through the body called the digestive system.
The lab offers a wide range of services, including but not limited to:
- Colonoscopy
- Flexible sigmoidoscopy
- Upper endoscopy
- Feeding tube placement
- ERCP (examination of bile ducts, gallbladder and related structures)
Experienced and competent staff
The GI lab's physicians, nurses and other staff have specialized training and certification to perform a variety of technically demanding procedures.
Gastroenterologists Moe Amadpour, MD; Mahendra Patel, MD; and Robert Moghimi, MD; and colorectal surgeon David Rosenfeld, MD, all have advanced training in their fields of expertise.
In addition, all nurses in the GI lab are registered nurses (RNs) who are certified in advanced cardiac life support. Two RNs are present during every procedure in the lab — one assisting the physician and the other monitoring the patient.
