About Us

Through our Athletic Training Program, Adventist Health Simi Valley is pleased to collaborate with area school districts to provide experienced athletic trainers to local school sports teams. The goal of the partnership is to keep student athletes healthy and safe by preventing, reducing and treating sports injuries. Our athletic trainers also are involved with educating students and encouraging them to pursue healthcare-related careers.

Each athletic trainer spends 40 hours a week at their respective schools, allowing athletes to fully engage and enjoy sports with the knowledge a sports medicine professional is nearby to deliver immediate care if needed.

What does an athletic trainer do?

Athletic trainers offer many valuable services to student athletes and their schools during practice, games and camps. They work in conjunction with orthopedic and sports medicine physicians to ensure area athletes have quick access to the care they need for health and safety.

Their services include:

  • Assessing, evaluating, providing a clinical diagnosis, and rehabilitation of athletes injuries
  • Applying functional taping, wrapping, bracing and supports
  • Injury and illness prevention
  • Providing onsite management of emergent, acute, and chronic injuries
  • Maintaining communication with team physicians, coaches, parents, and other health care providers
