Chad Ballard is a physical therapist and Director of Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation at Sonora Regional Medical Center. Chad grew up in Manteca, earned his undergraduate degree form CSU Stanislaus and earned his Master’s in Physical Therapy from Western University of Health Sciences. He also has extensive post-professional training in orthopedics, sports medicine and evidence-based therapy.

Chad has always enjoyed participating in sports and knew he wanted a career that would allow him to work with athletes. He had originally planned to become an athletic trainer and later contemplated becoming a physician but once he was exposed to physical therapy he knew it was the perfect blend of the two.

Following school, Chad completed clinical rotations in Alaska and Los Angeles and then worked in clinics in Tracy and Modesto before moving to Sonora in 2003. Throughout his career, Chad has found it incredibly rewarding to see patients progress from being unable to participate in their sport to getting back to, if not beyond, their pre-injury level.

Away from work, Chad enjoys softball, basketball, hiking to backcountry lakes and fly fishing in the High Sierra.
