Adventist Health Howard Memorial (AHHM) is a 25-bed facility with services including 24-hour emergency
care, state-of-the-art diagnostic services, inpatient and outpatient surgical
and laboratory services, cardiac treatment, intensive care, rehabilitation
services and health education. Patients and physicians benefit from partnerships
with University of California, Davis in telemedicine and telepediatrics.
AHHM brings cutting edge technology to a rural atmosphere where there
is time to focus on each individual patient.
In 2014, AHHM received the PRC Excellence in Healthcare Award as Top Performer- Patient Care, as well as a Blue Distinction Designation Center for knee and hip replacement. AHHM is a Joint Commission accredited medical center that consistently outranks its peers for quality patient outcomes, patient satisfaction scores and nursing care excellence.
In 2018, AHHM had 1,790 admissions, 14,144 emergency visits and 31,629 outpatient visits. The medical center is staffed by more than 16 physicians, 319 employees and 34 volunteers.
Community Overview
Adventist Health Howard Memorial is located in Willits, California, in beautiful northern Mendocino County. Known as the "Gateway to the Redwoods," the community is home to the world-famous Skunk Train, Frontier Days and some of the most beautiful recreational areas in the country. Willits offers a community and children's theater, excellent golf courses and bountiful outdoor activities such as hiking, camping, fishing, kayaking and much more.
The city of Willits, centrally located in the heart of Mendocino County, is on U. S. Highway 101 and State Highway 20 West approximately halfway between San Francisco and Eureka (140 miles either direction), 158 miles west of Sacramento and 36 miles east of the Pacific coast. The town is rich in history and beautiful scenery, from rolling hills to picturesque ranches dotting the landscape. Named after Hiram Willits, the town was settled by pioneering ranchers in the 1850s. Willits has a very moderate climate year-round. The coastal influence contributes to this wonderful climate especially in the summer months when our neighbors to the south can be up to 10 degrees warmer. Willits is nestled at the western edge of the Little Lake Valley at 1,350 feet above sea level and is surrounded by the forested mountains of the coastal range.
