The healthcare industry has been discovering new methods for patients to receive their healthcare in ways that are faster, easier and more convenient than ever before. Adventist Health Hospital@Home is just one unexpected way you, or someone in your family, could benefit in the near future.

Adventist Health Hospital@Home is currently offered within 25 miles of our medical centers in these cities: Glendale, Simi Valley, Los Angeles, Bakersfield, Hanford, Marysville/Yuba City, Clearlake, Ukiah and Willits.

1. What is Adventist Health Hospital@Home?

It’s a temporary virtual hospital unit with the latest hospital technology brought to your home. Adventist Health Hospital@Home provides you and your family with the expertise, safety and care you need, right where you want it. At home.

2. Isn’t a hospital the most appropriate place for getting well?

Hospitals offer the widest range of important life-saving benefits, so Adventist Health Hospital@Home isn’t meant to replace every hospital need. But it can be the most convenient way to heal from many illnesses that require hospital care. Plus, when you’re healing at home, you are more engaged in your care and empowered to heal quicker. So, in the right circumstances, home can be the best place to heal.

3. Can anyone participate in Adventist Health Hospital@Home?

Every patient is different, and so is every health need. Each Adventist Health Hospital@Home patient has to meet certain criteria for inpatient care, and it’s important the home environment is safe. Patients who have been diagnosed with COVID-19, heart failure, pneumonia, COPD, cellulitis, asthma or a urinary tract infection typically benefit the most from this program. Adventist Health Hospital@Home can also serve patients who require observation by a physician.

4. How do I participate?

When you are hospitalized, ask your doctor if you qualify for Adventist Health Hospital@Home. Once you qualify, we will provide the technology, supplies and an expert team of physicians, nurses and staff. Once you’re admitted, we connect you to the entire Adventist Health Hospital@Home care team through our easy-to-use mission control center app. We also provide the necessary in-person clinical services throughout the duration of your home hospitalization.

5. How much will Adventist Health Hospital@Home cost me?

The program accepts many insurance plans. Usually there are no additional costs beyond the normal co-payments, co-insurances and deductibles you would pay for a traditional hospital stay.

6. Does this mean there will be doctors and nurses living in my home?

No. While medical experts will be checking on you in-person regularly, you will mostly be monitored remotely through FDA-approved medical devices. Services traditionally provided by a hospital are delivered right to you:
- Lab services, IV medications and other equipment or therapy to your home
- Technology that enables you to connect with your care time with the push of a button
- Clinicians to provide in-person therapies

Other care is provided through technology:

- Immediate response to any urgent need 24 hours a day, seven days a week
- Regular visits from your clinicians including doctors, nurses and social workers

To get started, ask your doctor if Adventist Health Hospital@Home is right for you or your loved one. You can also learn more about the program.
