Adventist Health Medical Office – Riverdale welcomes Christopher Richardson, DO

Christopher “Chris” Richardson, DO, has joined the team at Adventist Health Medical Office – Riverdale, where he will fulfill the role of medical director. Board-certified in internal medicine and pediatrics, Richardson cares for patients from childhood to adulthood, providing a range of preventative primary care such as wellness and child exams. Additionally, he treats chronic and complex conditions, including diabetes, hypertension, hepatitis C, coronary artery disease, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and more.

Originally from rural North Carolina, Richardson grew up witnessing healthcare disparities often faced by the people who live in those areas. He is committed to bringing quality healthcare to deserving communities.

“Watching patients empower themselves with medical knowledge and make healthy decisions is the most rewarding thing I can imagine,” he said. “I enjoy counseling and educating patients to create treatments that are practical, individualized and sustainable.”

After earning three undergraduate degrees at East Carolina University in Greenville, Richardson earned his Doctorate of Osteopathic Medicine from Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine in Blacksburg, Va., graduating with honors. He then completed his residency in internal medicine and pediatrics at the University of South Florida in Tampa.

Richardson is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and American Board of Pediatrics, and is involved in many professional organizations, serving on the peer review committee of the Society of General Internal Medicine.

A dedicated volunteer, he has traveled on medical missions to provide care to underserved populations in countries such as Honduras, Haiti and Dominican Republic.

When not caring for patients, Richardson enjoys spending time with his wife and their three pets. Other interests including hiking, kayaking and playing drums in a small rock band formed with friends in Oregon.

Richardson is accepting new patients and may be reached at Adventist Health Medical Office – Riverdale, located at 3567 Mt. Whitney Ave., in Riverdale. More information and appointments are available by calling 559-867-7200.
