Adventist Health Ukiah Valley Welcomes New OB/GYN

Adventist Health Ukiah Valley General, Physicians

John Sanchez, MDAdventist Health Ukiah Valley’s newest physician feels blessed to be part of growing families and communities.

“There’s something special about bringing new life into this world and being part of growing a family. I feel blessed that my patients trust me with their most precious delivery,” shares John Sanchez, MD, an experienced obstetrician/gynecologist who will be seeing patients at Adventist Health Ukiah Valley’s Women’s Health Medical Office starting this month.

Dr. Sanchez brings over 30 years of experience in delivering comprehensive obstetrics and gynecologic care to women in Mendocino County.

Dr. Sanchez graduated from Keck School of Medicine University of Southern California and completed his residency at the University of California at San Diego. He is also fluent in English and Spanish, helping him better serve our diverse community.

Born and raised in Los Angeles, Dr. Sanchez says he is excited to be part of our growing community, and he chose Mendocino County because of its beauty, not just the place, but most importantly, the people. “I have always wanted to move to Northern California. After I completed my bachelors at Stanford University, I promised myself I would come back this way. It’s a beautiful place to live, and I love the tight-knit families and the small-town feel. Everyone is so welcoming and friendly.”

“It’s a breath of fresh air after living in Los Angeles my whole life. Being here relaxes you, almost instantly. And it’s a beautiful commute, which is a welcome change from what I’m used to. I’m excited to explore and meet everyone in the community.”

Dr. Sanchez shares, it’s that sense of community that he loves about his job. “The best part is when I’m in the grocery store and I see a mom and the baby I delivered all grown up. She can’t wait to introduce me and take a picture. To be able to be part of bringing that child into this world, it just makes me proud and blessed to have that opportunity to make a difference.”

Dr. Sanchez hopes to make the same difference for families in Mendocino County. “My care philosophy has always been to treat my patients the way I would want those I love most to be treated—with respect and compassion. Just like every patient is different, every pregnancy is different. I hope to support my patients and their choices throughout their journey and even after.”

“Dr. Sanchez will be a great addition to our team at Adventist Health Ukiah Valley. We strive to bring the highest quality providers to our patients, and we have found that in Dr. Sanchez,” shares Jason Wells, president for Adventist Health in Mendocino County. “His experience and patient-centered approach is a perfect fit for our growing community.”

As a board-certified obstetrician/gynecologist, Dr. Sanchez provides comprehensive OB-GYN services, including routine and high-risk gynecologic care, as well as prenatal, delivery and postpartum care for women with high-risk and healthy pregnancies.

When asked how many babies he’s delivered, Dr. Sanchez says, “About 20,000—the size of a small town!”

When he is not seeing patients, Dr. Sanchez enjoys spending time with family, most especially his grandchildren and travelling. “I’ve always wanted to own a winery, so I’m excited to be here and try my hand at wine-making,” he adds.

Dr. Sanchez is now welcoming patients at Adventist Health Ukiah Valley’s Women’s Health Clinic located at 415 Hospital in Ukiah. To make an appointment, please call 707-467-5220.
