Adventist Health Sonora preparing for possible PG&E power safety shutoff

News

PG&E has announced a potential power safety shutoff starting very early on Wednesday, October 9. Rest assured, Adventist Health Sonora is ready. In the event that PG&E shuts the power off, the hospital has backup power generators ready to go and will continue to care for our community.

Phones at Adventist Health Sonora are currently impacted and alternate phone lines have been established:

Hospital Main Operator – 1-971-274-2509

Admitting – 1-971-274-2510

Emergency Department – 1-971-274-2511

Clinic Services – 1-971-274-2512

Emergency Department, Birth Center, Medical Surgical, Intensive Care, Long Term Care, Home Care and Hospice teams will continue to meet the needs of all who are in need of inpatient and immediate care. However, elective surgeries such as a knee replacement have been postponed, and clinic and physician offices will be closed. Representatives are working to contact patients.

Most offsite services will be closed including the Health Pavilion, physician offices, rapid cares and other outpatient services such as Diagnostic Imaging and rehabilitation. Adventist Health Sonora staff will reach out to patients to reschedule appointments, tests and procedures as soon as possible following the outage alert.

We are working closely with our community partners and will continue monitoring all information from PG&E as well as our local emergency response team and will continue to update you as we know more. This situation is evolving and things can change rapidly.

At this time, make sure to prepare yourself and your household in the event of a power shutoff. Gas up your vehicles, have cash on hand, have adequate water and non-perishable foods, make sure prescriptions are filled, and make sure you have a plan for backup power for medical devices such as ventilators.
