New internal medicine physician and director of rural health

Adventist Health Sonora welcomes Ado Leporati, MD, an internal medicine physician who will provide patient care and serve as medical director for Adventist Health Sonora’s rural health clinics. Dr. Leporati is board certified in internal medicine and brings extensive experience, having served as a primary care physician, hospitalist, emergency room physician and critical care physician with Southern California Permanente Medical Group. During his tenure, he also served in administrative roles as clinic director and overseeing the medical residency program.

Dr. Leporati graduated with a Bachelor of Science in biology from Fordham University in New York and earned his medical degree from The State University of New York, Downstate Division, in Brooklyn, New York. He completed an internship and residency at Nassau County Medical Center. Upon completing his medical training, Dr. Leporati moved to Southern California, where he has cared for patients for several decades.

The rural health clinics at Adventist Health Sonora include primary care, pediatric care, dental care and specialty care, and are dedicated to serving individuals and families with Medi-Cal in Tuolumne County. As the new medical director, Dr. Leporati plans to assess what is going well so that the rural health clinics can continue to help improve community health.

“I see Adventist Health as really providing needed and heartfelt work in an ethical and moral way,” Dr. Leporati explains. “The focus is about helping people, and I look forward to contributing and being a part it.”

Dr. Leporati has always had an interest in helping people – that’s why he has dedicated his life to caring for patients. “I have seen miraculous things happen,” he says. “I have the opportunity to apply a skill that might help someone. I am inspired when I see patients get better. People can enjoy their lives and have more possibilities by achieving a healthy life.”

With a special interest in endocrine diseases, especially diabetes, Dr. Leporati is focused on helping patients receive the tests and screenings they need to maintain and improve their health. These areas of focus also include heart health, women’s health and cancer prevention.

Dr. Leporati and his wife have enjoyed many visits to the Foothills over the years and are happy to make this their new home.
