Community donates $1 million to Adventist Health Tehachapi Valley Foundation in 2018

Dec. 20, 2018 (Tehachapi, CA) – Community members donated more than $1 million to the Adventist Health Tehachapi Valley Foundation this year to go toward the purchase of life-saving equipment, art to warm hospital walls and other necessities.

The amount raised is a record for the critical access hospital, which opened its doors Nov. 7.

“What this shows is just how much our community truly cares about elevating health care in Tehachapi and investing in their hospital. Every dollar raised goes toward our mission of living God’s love by inspiring health, wholeness and hope, whether that means purchasing needed surgical equipment or warming the walls of our hospital to elevate our patients’ experiences,” Adventist Health Tehachapi Valley Foundation Manager Christina Scrivner said. “We’re so grateful to all the donors who believe in our very worthy mission.”

Much of the funding stemmed from The Guild of Tehachapi Hospital, which provided equipment to bring surgery back to the area. Roughly $850,000 went toward surgery, medical equipment and art to dress up hospital walls. The remainder will be invested in ongoing projects and programs in the future.

“While we had some who gave six-figure investments, our hearts are warmed by the flood of smaller donations we received from scores of community members who trust us to invest their donations wisely and are fully aware of the value this hospital brings to our community,” Scrivner said. “We are truly blessed.”
