Rideout Press Releases

The American Heart Association / American Stroke Association Award
recognizes Rideout's commitment to quality stroke care

On May 31, 2017, the Rideout Regional Medical Center Stroke Program was awarded the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association's Get With The Guidelines® - Stroke Silver Plus Quality Achievement Award with Target: Stroke Honor RollSM Elite Plus at a ceremony indoors at the Rideout Regional Medical Center.

Rideout was awarded the Silver Plus Quality Achievement Award for meeting or exceeding national stroke achievement measures.

Rideout was also awarded the Stroke Honor Roll Level Elite Plus designation for its performance in ensuring the time between the arrival at the hospital and receiving life-saving clot-busting medication meets the national standard of within one hour. This is the highest award an organization can receive. It is especially important because getting treated within this timeframe has been shown to significantly reduce the effects of stroke and lessen the chance of permanent disability.

"The American Heart Association and American Stroke Association recognize Rideout Regional Medical Center for its commitment to stroke care," said Paul Heidenreich, M.D., M.S., national chairman of the Get With The Guidelines Steering Committee and Professor of Medicine at Stanford University. "Research has shown there are benefits to patients who are treated at hospitals that have adopted the Get With The Guidelines program."

Rideout is proud to receive the award because it recognizes its commitment and success in ensuring that stroke patients receive care in accordance with the most up-to-date, evidence-based guidelines with the goal of speeding recovery and reducing death and disability.
