New OB-GYN Caring for Women in Reedley

REEDLEY – When Alexis Mayhew was 13, she accompanied a Michigan youth team to the Dominican Republic on Christmas to assist doctors and optometrists on a medical mission. That experience sparked her passion for medicine.

Dr. Mayhew, an OB-GYN, now cares for patients at Adventist Health Medical Office – Reedley Women’s Health.

She has an Associate of Science in Arts and Sciences from Kalamazoo Valley Community College, a Bachelor of Science from Western Michigan University and a medical degree from Loma Linda University School of Medicine. Her OB-GYN residency was completed at Riverside Regional Medical Center in Newport News, Va.

“Obstetrics patients tend to be the happiest in the hospital,” says Dr. Mayhew. “I love that it’s the only surgery that ends with you getting a baby.”

Dr. Mayhew is married and has a child of her own. She’s looking forward to helping women with pregnancy issues that she wishes she had help with when she was expecting.

Appointments may be made at Medical Office – Reedley Women’s Health, 550 West Cypress Ave., by calling (559) 391-3115. More information is available at
