Ukiah Valley Medical Center Again Earns “A” Grade for Patient Safety

Awards & Recognition

Ukiah, CA – The Leapfrog Group, a national patient safety watchdog, has awarded Ukiah Valley Medical Center (UVMC) an “A” rating which places them as one of the safest hospitals in the United States.

“Protecting patients from harm is the most important charge for any hospital,” said Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group. “We recognize and appreciate ‘A’ hospitals’ vigilance and continued dedication to keeping their patients safe.”

As the only independent ratings program that focuses exclusively on how effectively hospitals keep their patients safe, the Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade is the gold standard measure of patient safety. Developed under the guidance of an expert panel, the Hospital Safety Grade uses 30 measures of publicly available hospital safety data to assign A, B, C, D and F grades to more than 2,600 U.S. hospitals twice every year. It is calculated by top patient safety experts, peer-reviewed, fully transparent and free to the public.

“This is truly a result of laser focused work by our entire clinical team on keeping patients safe and the quality of care high,” remarked Gwen Matthews, CEO and President of Ukiah Valley Medical Center. “We are deeply committed to our friends and neighbors and count it a sacred trust to care for them in their hours of need.”
