Rideout Health Announces 2016 Favorite Physician Award
MARYSVILLE, March 30, 2016 – Rideout Health announces Douglas Tolley, Jr., MD has been named Rideout Health's Favorite Physician of the Year for 2016.
Dr. Tolley is no doubt dear to the hearts of thousands of Yuba-Sutter families since he has delivered more than 5,000 babies to them since moving to the area in 1993. Apparently he's won the hearts of his Rideout Health family as well, as he has been named Rideout's Favorite Physician 2016!
Dr. Tolley currently serves patients at Rideout Women's Health in Yuba City where he is noted for his compassion, humor and reliability. He is tireless in providing excellent patient care and leads by example – always with a friendly disposition. In addition to serving his patients, he is also a valuable member of the Rideout Health Governing Board since 2015.
"It gives me great pleasure to congratulate Dr. Tolley on this award. In a field bursting with qualified candidates, he has been named Rideout's Favorite Physician of the Year," said Gino Patrizio, CEO. "This designation is significant because it comes from peers and fellow staff members honoring the work he does on a daily basis."
Born and raised in Darby PA, near Philadelphia, he graduated from Penn State University in 1968. He earned his medical degree at Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia, performed his internship and residency at David Grant Medical Center, Travis Air Force Base, and was Board Certified in OB/GYN in 1979.
In 1990, Dr. Tolley retired from the Air Force with the rank of Colonel, after more than 22 years of service in Germany, Utah and California. After practicing for several years in Sacramento he moved to Yuba City and has been on the medical staff at Rideout Health since then, serving several terms as Chair of the Ob/Gyn Department, a Chief of Staff and on numerous hospital committees.
He is a fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, and a member of the American Medical Association, the California Medical Association (where he is a delegate to the CMA's House of Delegates), the Northern California Obstetrical and Gynecological Society and the Yuba-Sutter-Colusa Medical Society, where he has served as president for several terms.
He is married to the former Lois Gustafson, and both their sons, Gus and Derek, attended First Lutheran, Barry School and Yuba City High School.
Rideout Health has sponsored the "Favorite Physician of the Year" award program since 2010, inviting staff to nominate and vote for the doctors they consider extra special, delivering exceptional care in an exceptional manner. Congratulations Dr. Tolley, you are our Favorite Physician of the Year, 2016.
