SHAFTER – Dr. Jong C. Moon, a well-known provider in Shafter, has joined Adventist Health / Community Care – Shafter. Dr. Moon has been caring for children and adults in the community for 36 years, and Adventist Health is happy to have him and his staff join its family of 35 clinics throughout Central California.

Dr. Moon grew up in South Korea. His family had a history of liver disease and hepatitis, which is what made him want to pursue a career in medicine. “My family members were always getting sick, so I wanted to do something to help,” he says.

Dr. Moon graduated from Kyungpook National University School of Medicine in South Korea, then moved to the United States in 1972. He completed an internship at Booth Memorial Hospital in Queens, NY, and residency training at Wycoff Heights Hospital in Brooklyn, NY.

Dr. Moon practiced general surgery for many years. Now, he focuses mainly on wellness, diabetes, hypertension and infections of the lung and stomach.

“I am a family doctor who meets the needs of families in the community,” he says.

Dr. Moon has a family of his own. He’s been married for 45 years and has two adult children.

He speaks Korean and some Spanish. In his free time, he enjoys golfing, reading and watching movies.

Dr. Moon may be reached at Community Care – Shafter, 406 James St., with a phone number of (661) 746-5788. More information about the Shafter clinic is available at www.ShafterCare.com.
