Internal Medicine Physician in Selma

Dr. Rajani Vanam, a board-certified internal medicine physician, is caring for patients at Adventist Health / Community Care – Selma.

Dr. Vanam comes from a family of physicians. Her aunt and uncle are doctors, and growing up in Hanamkonda, India, she knew at an early age she wanted to become one as well.

After graduating with a major in physics, chemistry and biology, from Sri Chaitanya Women’s College, Dr. Vanam attended medical school at Kakatiya Medical College in Warangal, India, and then moved to the United States for internal medicine residency training at Kern Medical Center in Bakersfield. Before joining Adventist Health, Dr. Vanam was a hospitalist in Fresno.

She cares for patients with conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, asthma and congestive heart failure.

“I enjoy practicing in rural areas,” says Dr. Vanam. “It is my belief that everyone should have access to health care.” Before going to medical school, Dr. Vanam volunteered with an orphan society in India.

“I spoke to the children about medical issues and offered them emotional support,” says Dr. Vanam. “I wanted them to know the importance of school so they could find work and not have to depend on someone.”

When she’s not caring for patients, Dr. Vanam enjoys family time with her husband of 12 years and her two children, ages 3 and 6. She also enjoys traveling and listening to and singing classical Indian music.

Dr. Vanam is fluent in Telugu and Hindi. She may be reached at Community Care – Selma, 1041 Rose Ave., with a phone number of (559) 856-6090. More information about the clinic is available at
