Adventist Health Welcomes Five Valley Children's Maternal-Fetal Medicine Specialists

To provide high quality care to expectant mothers, Adventist Health / Community Care is teaming up with Valley Children’s Medical Group to bring five maternal-fetal medicine specialists to Hanford.

Drs. Beni Adeniji, Cheryl Albuquerque, Sanmaan Basraon, Elizabeth Platz and Robert Karl Sigman have joined Adventist Health / Community Care – Healthy Beginnings and will support physicians caring for obstetrics patients. They specialize in high-risk pregnancies, diabetes, hypertension, obesity and prenatal health.

Dr. Beni Adeniji is board-certified in both obstetrics and gynecology and maternal-fetal medicine and is fellowship-trained. He graduated from the College of Medicine, University of Ibadan, Nigeria. He is a diplomat of the Royal College of Obstetrics and Gynecology of the United Kingdom, completed residency training at King – Drew Medical Center and fellowship at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, both in Los Angeles. Dr. Adeniji has a wife and two children.

Dr. Cheryl Albuquerque is board-certified in both obstetrics / gynecology and maternal-fetal medicine and is fellowship-trained. Her interest in obstetrics developed when she volunteered in Mother Theresa’s home in Mumbai, caring for single pregnant mothers. She graduated from Grant Medical College, Mumbai, and completed a residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Illinois College of Medicine, Peoria. She then completed a fellowship in maternal-fetal medicine at Harbor UCLA. Dr. Albuquerque is married with two children.

Dr. Sanmaan Basraon is board-certified in obstetrics and gynecology and board eligible in maternal-fetal medicine. She grew up in Punjab, India, where she attended medical school at Government Medical College. She moved to Texas and completed residency and earned her Master of Public Health at University of Texas Medical Branch, where she also completed a fellowship. Dr. Basraon is married and has two children.

Dr. Elizabeth Platz is board-certified in obstetrics and gynecology and board eligible in maternal-fetal medicine. She grew up in New York, earned a Master’s of Science and Clinical Research from Medical University of South Carolina and completed her residency at Medical University of South Carolina, where she also completed a fellowship. Dr. Platz is also a certified yoga instructor.

Dr. Robert Karl Sigman is board-certified in obstetrics and gynecology and maternal-fetal medicine and is fellowship-trained in maternal-fetal medicine. The Pittsburgh native graduated from University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and completed his residency at Charity Hospital, Louisiana State University. He completed a fellowship in maternal-fetal medicine at Washington University in St. Louis, Mo. Dr. Sigman knew he wanted to be a doctor as young as 13. He’s been practicing medicine for 44 years now. He’s married and has two children and three grandchildren.
