Medical Center Welcomes New Family Practice Physician in Arnold

Physicians

Sonora Regional Medical Center is pleased to welcome Maryal Concepcion, MD, a Family Practice Physician who is now accepting patients at Arnold Family Medical Center. Dr. Concepcion joins her husband, Jeremiah Fillo, MD, also a Family Practice Physician who started at the Arnold clinic in September.

After earning her medical degree from Creighton University School of Medicine in Omaha, Nebraska, Dr. Concepcion completed her residency training with an area of concentration in Rural Family Medicine in Modesto, California.

Dr. Concepcion is originally from Sacramento where she gained an appreciation of other cultures studying humanities and international studies at McClatchy High School. She went on to study anthropology at the University of California, Davis before pursuing her medical degree.

Fueling her interests in science and constant learning, Dr. Concepcion ultimately describes her approach to medicine as being human and taking the time to teach her patients. “I try to instill an appreciation for life and health,” explains Dr. Concepcion. “Going to the doctor is a scary thing so it is important to provide a safe, supportive environment where patients can talk about their health.”

Dr. Concepcion has experience treating a wide variety of patients and provides a full spectrum of medical care, from newborns to grandparents. Her training at Creighton University allowed the opportunity for rotations in rural health settings outside of Omaha, internal medicine training at St. Mary’s Medical Center in San Francisco, and inpatient pediatrics and psychiatry in Phoenix, Arizona.

Dr. Concepcion and Dr. Fillo are already enjoying the outdoors and getting to know their new community in Arnold. They will be splitting schedules at the Arnold clinic, allowing time for Dr. Concepcion to provide obstetrics care at the Forest Road Health and Wellness Center in Sonora, visiting newborns in the Birth Center, providing colonoscopies for her patients at Sonora Regional Medical Center and teaching at Columbia College.

To schedule an appointment with Dr. Concepcion, please call Arnold Family Medical Center at (209) 795-1270.
