Hospital Construction Kick-Off Celebration!

Community Needs

SELMA – The community is invited to celebrate the start of construction for the $13 million Adventist Medical Center – Selma expansion project on Thursday, Dec. 3.

A Construction Kick-Off Celebration will take place at 10 a.m. inside a tent on the front lawn of the hospital, 1141 Rose Ave. in Selma.

Guests will hear the latest updates on the project. Construction on the new six-bed Intensive Care Unit is expected to begin in December and finish in 2016. The project will also include Emergency and Surgery Department expansion and upgrades, including a new cardiac catheterization lab for heart diagnostic and vascular procedures.

The hospital announced the expansion last year, after the board of the Roseville-based not-for-profit corporation approved $13.3 million in funding. Preliminary work began with the installation of a new emergency generator and changes in processes to improve patients’ experience and wait times.

Because Adventist Health is a not-for-profit private corporation, its projects differ from many major hospital construction projects in that no public property taxes are required.
