GAMC Earns Excellence Award from Studer Group

Awards & Recognition

Glendale Adventist Medical Center (GAMC) has earned a prestigious Excellence in Patient Care award for physician engagement from the Studer Group, an outcomes-based, health care performance improvement firm that works with hospitals throughout the United States and internationally.

Presented at the Studer Group’s annual What’s Right in Health Care conference, the award is based on the hospital achieving and sustaining high satisfaction scores from GAMC physicians in independent surveys conducted by the Professional Research Corp.

“GAMC receives many awards for quality and safety and this is the first time in recent memory that we were awarded for the physician experience,” President/CEO Kevin A. Roberts said.“In the tumult of health care reform it is wonderful to see a strong bond between the medical community and the hospital. That partnership is a key ingredient to any successful health care system.”

Roberts explained that GAMC partners with its physicians in many ways, from setting priorities and working on improvements in quality to implementing best practices and engaging the community’s overall population health.

“This award has a lot to do with the improvement of our patient experience,” Roberts emphasized. “As the patient experience improves, there’s a parallel with the physician experience.” Roberts added, "Physicians recognize the improvements…nurses are more attentive to patient needs, communication is better, we’ve created a safer environment…it’s an accumulation of our Performance at a Higher Level initiatives around best practice implementation and leadership development.”

GAMC appreciates the Studer Group for acknowledging the high level of physician satisfaction and receiving this excellence award.
