Take a look at our recap of White Memorial’s REVIVE! All Staff Assembly

Awards & Recognition

May 6 & 7 marked our first-ever all staff assemblies – REVIVE! – where at four different three-hour sessions 1,300 of us were able to reconnect, re-energize and remind ourselves why we choose to work at the White. As an added bonus, we had the amazing privilege of listening to Warren Macdonald’s personal confirmation of the incredible power of the human spirit.

Our Executive Team introduced themselves and told us why they think the White is like no other place to work. We got to see our President & CEO John Raffoul fulfill his personal fantasy of being

a TV star in our version of “Undercover Boss” in which he quickly discovered what it’s like to step into many of our shoes throughout the hospital. After the video, John spoke of his personal vision for the White and the challenges ahead as we move toward a regional approach to the delivery of health care along with our sister hospitals Glendale Adventist Medical Hospital, Simi Valley Hospital and San Joaquin Community Hospital. Our very own White Memorial Choir delighted us with their rendition of Josh Groban’s “You Lift Me Up.” Regelin Castillo, Choir Director, reminded us that the daily work we do as caregivers is being guided by the Lord.

At White Memorial we all share a special bond – a point made especially clear by this year’s Employee Service Award video which was featured at the conclusion of each REVIVE! Assembly. The video featured long-time employees who talked about their years of dedicated service to the White, the tremendous sense of family, appreciation for their fellow employees and more importantly, their love of patients and family who rely on us to care for them. With this much love for a place (WMMC), the people in it (you) and the people we serve (our community) – a love that transcends the limitations of time, background, upbringing and circumstance – it can’t help but spill out into everything we do and everything we are. This year’s REVIVE! was a reminder of just that. For those of you who were unable to attend REVIVE! don’t worry, we are producing a REVIVE! video. Whether you ordered one or not, signed copies of Warren Macdonald’s inspiring book, A Test of Will, are available for purchase in HR for $15, as well as REVIVE! T-shirts for $10. The best news of all is that REVIVE! will become an annual event at White Memorial Medical Center.
