Adventist Medical Center Among Top 5% in Nation for Clinical Excellence

Awards & Recognition

Adventist Medical Center has received the 2015 Distinguished Hospital Award for Clinical Excellence for the second consecutive year. This recognition by Healthgrades places Adventist Medical Center in the top five percent of hospitals nationwide for consistently demonstrating safe and effective clinical care, solidifying AMC as one of the nation’s best hospitals.

The distinction represents research gathered by Healthgrades, an independent organization that evaluated over 4,500 hospitals across the nation for 31 procedures and conditions. Data shows that if all hospitals performed with the same level of quality as AMC, (between 2011-2013), more than 163,488 patients might have been saved in America during that time period.

“Our mission calls us to provide patients with the best possible care,” says Joyce Newmyer, president and CEO of Adventist Medical Center. “Our quality outcomes are the result of physicians, nurses and an entire team who are committed to delivering exceptional care in every interaction.”

Every hospital aims to provide the highest quality care to every patient, yet only some manage to achieve superior performance across many common treatments.
Thirty-two common conditions and procedures are evaluated for award eligibility including cardiac surgery, stroke, joint replacement, spine surgery and gastrointestinal care. Healthgrades reviewed and analyzed approximately 40 million Medicare patient records to determine mortality and complications in hospitals. Their methodology weighted the inherent risks of age, gender and preexisting conditions.
