Patients Win Wii and Wii Fit System from Doctors' Day Contest

HANFORD/ORANGE COVE – Patients from across the Central Valley expressed appreciation for their physicians as part of a Doctors’ Day contest in March.

Nearly 40 patients took the time to write about an excellent experience they had with an Adventist Health / Central Valley Network physician. The entries were placed into a drawing for a Wii U game system or an Apple iWatch. The two winners were 10-year-old Levi Robinson, a patient of Dr. Loren Haworth, a family medicine physician at Adventist Health / Community Care – Orange Cove; and Martha Gonzales, a patient of Dr. Susan Locke, an internal medicine physician with Adventist Health Physicians Network at Lacey Medical Plaza in Hanford.

Levi presented Dr. Haworth with a framed photo and hand-written letter that read:

Dear Loren Haworth,

I think you are a very awesome Doctor beacuse you help people if they are sick or if they have infections and if they are injured and for being so nice to us. I want to say thank you for evreything you have done for people and my family. And thank you for my perscripshon pile. I am sorry for not behaving the days in the Docters office. Dr. Locke also received a surprise visit from her patient, who read her letter aloud:

I made a doctor’s appointment because I was feeling ill for about a week. When I saw Dr. Susan Locke, she was very patient with me. Weeks went by and I still didn’t feel well so I went back to the office. Dr. Locke gave me a different medication. I’m feeling better now and on my way to recovery after being sick for almost three weeks. It really felt good to speak to Dr. Locke. She listened as I asked questions and was very helpful in explaining the medication. I really want to thank her for being calm, listening to my questions and caring.

Congratulations to the winners, and thank you to the doctors who support Adventist Health’s vision to be the best place to receive care, the best place to practice medicine and the best place to work.
