Are You Familiar with Faith in Action?

Perhaps you’ve heard of faith in action, but you’re not sure what we do. faith in action has been a community service arm of our hospital since 1998. We’re a volunteer-based community outreach program. FIA volunteers live our hospital’s mission in our community by giving support and lending a helping hand to the frail, elderly and disabled through friendly visiting, respite care, running errands, providing local transportation and more.

An important ministry of FIA is our Wellspring Respite Day Center. Wellspring staff and volunteers provide a day filled with love and laughter for the care receiver, while the caregiver gets six hours of time away. This time off helps the caregiver replenish their well so they can carry on with the sometimes difficult task of full time caregiving. We have employees right here in the hospital who donate their valuable time, talents and gifts to help others through FIA.

Cassy Harth and Donna Rumbarger provide a friendly face for two lonely shut-ins, and they also provide some housekeeping to help them to stay independent in their own homes. David Harrison worked to remove moss from a porch, providing a safe exit route for an elderly couple who can now leave their home and not worry about slipping or falling on the unsafe porch. Dennis Grosulak has shared his love of cooking with others through FIA.

It is such a blessing to receive a home cooked meal from Dennis. And Gina Seufert has provided assistance for a lady whose closest companion is her cat. Gina’s compassion enriched the lives of both the woman and her beloved pet. We also have employees who help support FIA through employee giving and through giving to United Way and designating their donation to FIA.

FIA is an extension of our hospital reaching out to our community. We are so thankful to all 50 of our volunteers. They are our ambassadors sharing God’s love by providing physical, mental and spiritual healing to those outside our four walls.

Faith in Action will hold two fundraising events in October. The first is the beloved annual Walk of Faith, Sunday, October 12 from 3 to 5 p.m. Walk of Faith is a 1.3 mile walk which begins and ends at TRMC. Dogs on leashes are invited: there will be a blessing of dogs at the 9th Street Park and prizes will be awarded to the best behaved dogs. We’ll have a reception at the hospital at 4 p.m. Walk of Faith is a fundraiser for the respite care services provided by Faith in Action. We will have a Tupperware party for employees on Oct. 23 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the third floor conference rooms, proceeds to benefit Faith in Action. Thank you for your support.
