SJCH Named Bakersfield’s Most Preferred Hospital for Overall Quality and Image
NOVEMBER, 2014 (BAKERSFIELD, CALIFORNIA) – San Joaquin Community Hospital (SJCH) was named a 2014/2015 Consumer Choice Award recipient by National Research Corporation, signifying SJCH as Bakersfield's Most Preferred Hospital for Overall Quality and Image. The award, announced in the Oct. 13 issue of Modern Healthcare magazine, identifies hospitals across the United States that healthcare consumers chose as having the highest quality and image.“San Joaquin Community Hospital is proud to receive the distinction of being Bakersfield’s most preferred hospital,” said Doug Duffield, SJCH president and CEO. “This particular honor stands out even more because it is chosen by the people we serve – our patients, family members and employees. We work tirelessly to ensure that our mission is more than just words on letterhead and business cards; but rather, that’s it’s lived out in every aspect of our patient care, business decisions and community outreach.”
Over the past year, San Joaquin Community Hospital has continued to focus on expanding access to needed services and providing high-quality care. In 2014, the hospital became the first in Kern County and only the second in California to receive accreditation as a Heart Attack Receiving Center, which recognizes hospitals that meet or exceed quality of care measures for people experiencing the most severe type of heart attack. The hospital is also set to open Quest Imaging Downtown, a state-of-the-art imaging center featuring the latest in radiology and diagnostic imaging. Currently, Quest Imaging is the only center in town to offer 3-D mammography, which has been shown to be 41 percent more effective in identifying invasive forms of breast cancer. These continued advancements highlight SJCH’s commitment to being the health care choice for Bakersfield and Kern County.
“The complexity of healthcare has urged consumers to play much more of an integral role in their care decisions, which in turn, is prompting hospitals and healthcare systems to lead a proactive approach to brand awareness,” said Brian Wynne, Vice President of Sales at National Research. “This year’s winners have done an exceptional job of representing their organizations in terms of high-quality care, improvement initiatives, and positive consumer perceptions and experiences.”
