Breast Care Center Earns National Recognition for Imaging Excellence

Awards & Recognition

HANFORD – Adventist Health / Breast Care Center in Hanford is the first in Tulare and Kings Counties to earn a designation of Breast Imaging Center of Excellence by the American College of Radiology (ACR).

By awarding facilities the status of a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence, the ACR recognizes breast imaging centers that have earned accreditation in all of the College’s voluntary, breast-imaging accreditation programs and modules. The Breast Care Center and our Medical Imaging Departments at Adventist Medical Center – Reedley and Adventist Medical Center – Selma are also ACR-accredited in mammography.

The breast imaging services at our Breast Care Center are fully accredited in mammography, stereotactic breast biopsy, breast ultrasound and ultrasound-guided breast biopsy. Board-certified physicians and medical physicists who are experts in the field evaluated each service and found high practice standards in five areas:

-Image quality

-Personnel qualifications

-Facility equipment

-Quality control procedures

-Quality assurance programs

“Our team works hard every day to provide the highest quality care for our patients who walk into our Breast Care Center,” says Dr. Edythe Stewart, Medical Director of the facility. “This designation reflects that commitment to excellence.”

The ACR, based in Reston, Va., is a national organization serving more than 32,000 diagnostic/interventional radiologists, radiation oncologists, nuclear medicine physicians and medical physicists with programs for focusing on the practice of medical imaging and radiation oncology, as well as the delivery of comprehensive health care services.
