Pediatrician Specializing in Rheumatology Joins Reedley Children's Health

REEDLEY – Dr. Edsel Arce is caring for young patients with general health issues, as well as muscle disease, lupus, juvenile arthritis and psoriasis at Adventist Health / Community Care - Reedley Children’s Health.

The board-certified pediatrician, with fellowship training and experience in pediatric rheumatology, also cares for patients at Valley Children’s Healthcare.

“I’m excited to be able to expand my services to patients in rural areas because oftentimes they can’t make it to Fresno,” says Dr. Arce. “There are also many Hispanics in the area that I can help by speaking their language.”

Dr. Arce was born in Bayamon, Puerto Rico. As a child, he enjoyed learning about science and helping others, so he felt that becoming a doctor was the perfect combination. He earned his medical degree from the University of Puerto Rico School of Medicine, and completed a residency in pediatrics at University Pediatric Hospital in San Juan, Puerto Rico, and a fellowship in pediatric rheumatology at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas. It was in Dallas where he began to dedicate his life to researching childhood lupus, which is a disease of the immune system that leads to inflammation in the affected parts of the body.

Prior to joining Valley Children’s, Dr. Arce served as assistant professor of pediatrics in the Pediatric Rheumatology Department at University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis.

Dr. Arce is fluent in Spanish and American Sign Language. He may be reached at Reedley Children’s Health, 1433 N. Acacia Ave., with a phone number of (559) 637-2384.
