New Family Medicine Doctor Raul Perez, MD

Physicians April 30, 2014 (Sonora, CA) - Sonora Regional Medical Center is proud to welcome Raul Perez, M.D., a family practice doctor with over 23 years of experience, who has joined the hospital physician team and will begin accepting new patients this month.

Dr. Perez earned his medical degree from Hahnemann University School of Medicine in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania with honors in cardiology, nephrology, neoplasia, and hematology. He performed his residency at Temple University’s Rolling Hill Hospital in Elkins Park, Pennsylvania. Dr. Perez has spent over two decades in private practices in West Virginia, Georgia, and California. He was also the Medical Director at Monroe County Health Center, Springfield Center and Andrew S. Rowan Memorial hospital in West Virginia, where he directed patient services.

Dr. Perez is excited that the area is in need of family practice doctors. “I offer a very personalized form of medicine,” says Perez. “I care about you and I can empathize with your problems. A lot of times all people need is assurance that everything is going to be okay.” Dr. Perez first wanted to get into the medical field when his cousin became the first physician in the family. Perez saw the respect given to his cousin and the impact he made and wanted to do the same.

Coming to Sonora was the right decision at the right time, according to Perez. “Adventist Health is a strong company with forward-thinking individuals who know how to do things right.” He also loves the community’s friendly helpful people and the diverse culture it represents.
In his free time, Dr. Perez enjoys exercising by going hiking and snowshoeing and is a self-proclaimed “big military history nut,” especially the World War II era. He and his wife Wendy, a Physician Assistant in Gastroenterology at the hospital, claim their two dogs, Emma Lee and Daphne, as their beloved children.
