Willits, CA— Spa robes, pink fluffy socks, head, neck and shoulder massages, and decadent hors d'oeuvres are anything but what you typically expect to receive during a routine medical exam. On October 16, 2013 participants at HMH’s first Pink Ribbon Party experienced just that.

According to Medical Imaging Manager, Christine Borycki, “We’re making mammograms fun, especially for women who haven’t had one in a while and first timers. This is a great opportunity for you to come, mingle, make new friends, and have a mammogram at the same time.”

A recent study found that despite professional recommendations about getting their mammograms, only about half of U.S. women get an annual mammogram, even if they have insurance to cover the test. Though the study did not investigate reasons why women may not get mammograms, it has been thought that discomfort from the test and lack of available screening centers may be among the reasons that some women do not undergo this screening.

“With our Pink Ribbon Party,” said Borycki, “we hope to address the concerns that women in our community have by putting them at ease and giving them a fun and memorable experience that may also be lifesaving!”

HMH has a state-the-art imaging department which provides diagnostic x-ray, CT scanning, digital mammography, bone mineral density scanning (dexa), ultrasound, echo cardiology, and MRI.
