New Year's Baby 2012!

Childbirth

Ukiah welcomes its first baby of 2012! Tyler was born January 1 at 4:21p.m. at Ukiah Valley Medical Center.

With an impressive weight of six pounds ten ounces at 19 inches long, Tyler is the son of Jennifer Martin and Tony Guerra from Willits. He joins a prestigious group of 440,000 babies born on New Year’s Day across the World.

Tyler is also being welcomed by three brothers and a sister.

According to U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) data, there are just over four million babies born in the United States each year. Approximately 844 of those babies are born to parents at UVMC annually.

Babycenter.com lists the top 10 baby girl names of 2011: 1) Sophia, 2) Emma, 3) Isabella, 4) Olivia, 5) Ava; 6) Lily, 7) Chloe, 8) Madison, 9) Emily, and 10) Abigail. The top 10 boy’s name are: 1) Aiden, 2) Jackson, 3) Mason, 4) Liam, 5) Jacob, 6) Jayden, 7) Ethan, 8) Noah, 9) Lucas, and 10) Logan.

There were no, shall we say unique, celebrity-inspirited names on the list this past year, according to Babycenter.com. Names such as Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon’s son Moroccan Cannon, or Alicia Silverstone and husband Christopher Jarecki’s little boy Bear Blu Jarecki.

However, this is speculation that “Pippa” could become a popular name during 2012 inspired by Pippa Middleton, younger sister of Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge.

Tyler will use about 2788 diapers during his first year of life as calculated by KidsGrowth.com. UVMC provided the first baby of the year with his first case of disposable diapers, 240 of them to be exact.

The nurses in the labor and delivery unit at UVMC also pooled together to purchase a glider rocker for the family.

“Babies have spent nine months in the womb being rocked as mom walks and moves throughout her day,” stated Donna Bauer, RN and director of perinatal services. “It relaxes them.”

Welcome Tyler. Have a rockin’ great 2012!
