SJCH's Bariatric Solutions Receives Center of Excellence Status

Weight Management San Joaquin Community Hospital’s Bariatric Solutions, a weight-loss center, was recently designated as an American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS) Bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence. The standards used to achieve this status result from a combination of the surgeons performing weight loss procedures and the facility at which the surgery is performed.

This means the Bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence designation is awarded in tandem to weight loss surgeons and the facility itself, which allows patients, payors, quality organizations and others to distinguish specific providers who have met the requirements for delivering high quality, perioperative and long-term follow-up care from other facilities and/or bariatrics programs who have not.

Together, the integrated efforts and resources of the surgeon, facility and practice provide lasting health benefits for bariatric surgery patients. These three linked entities create the “center” that ultimately enables the surgeon and facility to receive the “center of excellence” designation.

“This ‘Center of Excellence’ designation speaks to the dedication of our team here at Bariatric Solutions and the excellence and collaboration we have with our surgeons,” said Sheri Seal-Bailey, director of Bariatric Solutions. “Many of our staff, including myself, have gone through our programs. We personally understand that losing weight can be challenging, but we also know that it can be done.”

Bariatric Solutions offers a comprehensive approach to weight loss that includes in-depth lifestyle education, personal coaching, and the option of medically supervised treatment.  With both in-clinic and at-home weight-loss options, the clinic has serviced thousands of individuals throughout Kern County.
