Last month, Howard Memorial Hospital (HMH) celebrated Perioperative Nurses Annual Recognition week. Their celebration included nurses from Pre-Op, where patients are prepared for surgery, the operating room, and the Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) - also known as the Recovery Room. All in all, 14 registered nurses with a total of 209 years of experience at HMH took time to recognize their profession and achievements.

One of the foundations of excellent health care is continuing education, and the perioperative nurses support each other as they strive to reach the highest certifications. This year, Jeanna Cerino, RN, achieved the status of Certified Nurse in Operating Room (CNOR). Cerino (pictured in the gray dress in the middle of the photo) joins HMH nurses Steve Lovell, RN, RNFA and Cindy Bodensteiner, RN, RNFA as Certified Operating Room Nurses. The certification recognizes the highest level of excellence and commitment to quality care of the surgical patient. Cerino joins more than 33,500 perioperative nurses who currently hold the CNOR credential worldwide.
