Adventist Health/Medical Group Welcomes New Pediatrician

General

Olga Ochoa, MD, is available for appointments

Adventist Health/Medical Group is pleased to welcome a new pediatrician to the group beginning September 1. Olga Ochoa, MD, is fluent in both Spanish and English. Dr. Ochoa recently completed her pediatric residency at the University of Illinois at Chicago. She earned her medical degree from the Universidad Industrial de Santander, in Bucaramanga and completed her residency in Medellin, Colombia, where she continued to practice for the next 10 years as a pediatrician.

Dr. Ochoa feels a deep call to take care of children and their families. She made the decision to become a doctor when she was 15 years old and her younger brother died of leukemia after more than a year of treatment. “When I saw my brother in his bed at the hospital I decided to become a doctor to help children,” she says.

Her experience as a general pediatrician focuses on childhood obesity and asthma. Some of her favorite visits are the ongoing well-child visits as they allow her to interact with and learn more about her patients and their families.

Dr. Ochoa and her husband, Richard, have two border collies named Diego and Picasso and are enjoying exploring Walla Walla and the surrounding areas. She enjoys traveling, reading and outdoor activities.

Dr. Ochoa is the second new pediatrician to join the seven-provider group at AHMG this year. Her arrival also enhances the group’s ability to provide care in Spanish, with two bilingual providers and many bilingual nurses and other staff.
