Innovative Wellness Program Holds Community Open House

Since opening its doors early this year, the Live Well program at St. Helena Hospital’s Clearlake Family Health Center has helped hundreds to overcome or avoid chronic illness. On November 10, Live Well staff held an Open House where community members could learn firsthand about its comprehensive program that empowers individuals to improve their health and quality of life.

“With this event, our goal was to introduce more of our neighbors to our unique program that helps people take charge of their own health. We want them to know they can overcome or avoid chronic health challenges such as heart disease, chronic pain, diabetes, and arthritis,” says Kimberly Tangermann, Associate Director of Family Health Centers, St. Helena Hospital Clear Lake. “We’re pretty passionate about our message: you can do something about chronic pain or illness. You can make sustainable changes to improve your life, your way.”

Live Well emphasizes whole-person approaches to chronic health issues. Based on St. Helena’s core value of treating mind, body and spirit together, Live Well incorporates patient education, physical conditioning, diet and lifestyle choices, and staff and peer supports to help patients become active partners in their own health care and make meaningful life changes.

About 75 guests dropped in throughout the evening to browse displays, participate in fun and informative activities, win gift cards, meet the medical staff, ask questions, and enjoy refreshments from Chic Le Chef and live music by local guitarist Jason Bodlovich. According to Tangermann, the event was a great success.

“We wanted each person to leave with at least one thing they could do today to improve their quality of life. We have a lot of fun working with our patients, and we wanted to bring that spirit to this event,” Tangermann says. “Whether you or a loved one suffers from a chronic health condition, or you simply want to learn ways you can improve your health and avoid some common problems, we’d love to show you how Live Well can help. It’s all about finding solutions that work for your life.”

Live Well is located at the Clearlake Family Health Center, 15230 Lakeshore Drive, Clearlake. For more information about Live Well, call (707)-995-4545.
