Volunteers to Present San Joaquin Community Hospital with $136,000-plus Check Donation

Philanthropy What: On the heels of a very successful Volunteers Week celebration, the same group of dedicated volunteers at San Joaquin Community Hospital (SJCH) who give generously of their time will also give generously of their fundraising efforts. SJCH Volunteer Services will present a check of $136,790 to the hospital. This money was raised primarily through the hospital’s popular gift shop, The Gift Gallery, to further SJCH’s mission to provide our community with physical, mental and spiritual healing. In 2009, a total of 210 adult, junior and college student volunteers contributed more than 9,000 of hours to provide vital hospital services, community outreach and fundraising efforts. A total of 412,411 volunteer hours have been logged during the group’s 37-year history, while the total dollar amount of donations (through 2008) is more than $1.3 million.

Where: San Joaquin Community Hospital, 2615 Chester Ave., at the hospital’s front entrance

Why: Representatives of San Joaquin Community Hospital Volunteer Services will present a $136,790 donation check to SJCH.
