Amy Grant Comes to Bakersfield

Event In 1978, a young singer named Amy Grant took a Fort Worth stage for her first performance. Mixing a repertoire that joined original material amidst a few Carole King covers, Grant’s inspired performance foreshadowed the success to come.

Thirty years, six Grammy’s and 21 Dove Awards later, Amy Grant is coming to Bakersfield’s Fox Theatre on Saturday, Oct. 18 as the highlighted performer for San Joaquin Community Hospital’s Annual Foundation Gala. The Gala, which has in the past two years featured Patti LaBelle and Tony Bennett, is aimed toward helping the hospital continue to invest in advanced facilities that meet the need of the community. In the past, the Gala has raised money towards the Diabetes Education Program, Maternity Care Center and surgical suites in the hospital’s new tower.

Mimi Audelo, foundation director at San Joaquin Community Hospital is excited about the opportunity to bring Grant to Bakersfield.

“We’re thrilled that Amy Grant has decided to join us for this incredible event,” Audelo said. “We’re looking forward to sharing this night with the community and using the funds raised to continue to provide Bakersfield with the kind of health care it deserves.”

Tickets for the Gala, which are $225 per person, include a black-tie dinner, silent auction and preferred seating for the concert.
