WWGH Purchases Blue Mountain Medical Group

News

WALLA WALLA, Wash.--Walla Walla General Hospital announced today that it has purchased Blue Mountain Medical Group. The announcement comes after nearly a year of discussion between the group and the hospital.

The 11-physician and 6-nurse practitioner group located on the hospital campus will now operate under the name Adventist Health/Medical Group. This new arrangement was developed with the goal of improving communication and operational efficiencies.

An additional goal was to create a physician practice environment that would enhance physician recruitment efforts--a goal already being realized with four new outpatient internal medicine physicians scheduled to join the group in the first six months of 2009.

"I'm pleased that this came together as it did," states Monty Knittel, WWGH President and CEO. "The physicians benefit in that they can focus their attention on their patients without being concerned about day-to-day business."

BMMG President, Robert Betz, MD, agrees, "Running a physician practice is a complicated business. We are optimistic that the hospital has acquired the expertise necessary to manage the business, giving us the opportunity to focus on the practice of medicine."

Blue Mountain Medical Group, now Adventist Health/Medical Group, is located in three buildings on the hospital campus with specialties in Family Practice, Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, Obstetrics and Gynecology.

Prior to the purchase, the hospital operated one physician practice--Preferred Women's Health, an OB/Gyn office located in the new Medical Pavilion.

Current patients of the medical group will, of course, continue to see the same physicians, nurses and office staff.
