Surgery Instructions

What to do on the day of your surgery at Adventist Health White Memorial

In preparation for your surgery, talk to your doctor to make sure you know exactly what is expected of you on the day of your procedure. You will be provided with precise instructions you should follow to ensure a safe and effective surgery.

On the day of your surgery, you should:

  • Ask your doctor about taking any medications in the morning of your surgery — be sure to follow your doctor's instructions
  • Bring all your medications (prescription, herbal, natural) with you
  • Bring your personal identification and insurance card with you (driver's license, ID, passport, etc.)
  • Bring a copy of your living will or advance directive, if you have one

Legal guardians or those with power of attorney must have proof of this or appropriate documentation with them. Minors under age 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.
