Our specialty certifications include:

  • Stroke receiving center/STEMI Receiving Center. Designated by the State of California and L.A. County for specialized emergency stroke and heart attack treatment.
  • Certified Emergency Department Approved for Pediatrics (EDAP) features specialized physicians, nurses and support staff experienced in the most advanced pediatric emergency care.
  • Only hospital in Los Angeles to receive the Lantern Award by the Emergency Nurses Association for having an emergency department that exemplifies exceptional practice and innovative performance in the areas of nursing, leadership, practice, education, advocacy, and research.

When should I go to the emergency room?

Go to the emergency room for problems that can’t wait, such as:

  • Chest pain
  • Difficulty breathing
  • Severe bleeding or trauma
  • Loss of consciousness
  • Loss of or blurred vision
  • High, uncontrolled fever
  • Head injuries
  • Burns
  • Severe abdominal pain
  • Broken bones
  • Signs of stroke
    • Numbness or droopiness on one side of your face

    • Unexpected arm weakness

    • Sudden slurred speech

When should I go to urgent care?

Visit an urgent care for urgent problems that aren’t life-threatening but still need attention, such as:

  • Coughs, colds and sore throat
  • Sprains and strains
  • Rashes or skin irritations like sunburn
  • Minor burn
  • Ear infections and sinus infections
  • Minor cuts and lacerations
