Steven Curtis Chapman Headlines Thanksgiving Event
Sep 21, 2026
Adventist Health Portland will welcome the community for an evening of music, gratitude and giving at its 17th Annual Celebration of Thanksgiving concert featuring Steven Curtis Chapman on Friday, Nov. 20, 2026. The free concert will be held at East Hill Church, located at 701 N. Main Ave. in Gresham. Doors open at 6 p.m., and the concert begins at 7 p.m.
This year's concert features Steven Curtis Chapman, one of the most influential artists in Christian music history. With a career spanning more than 30 years, Chapman has earned 60 Gospel Music Association Dove Awards, five GRAMMY Awards, an American Music Award and an unprecedented 50 No. 1 singles. He has sold more than 17 million albums worldwide and remains one of the genre's most recognizable voices. In 2024, Chapman became the first Christian artist ever inducted into the Grand Ole Opry, adding another milestone to an already remarkable career.
A Thanksgiving tradition
Over the past 16 years, Adventist Health Portland's Celebration of Thanksgiving has featured many of Christian music's most beloved performers, creating memorable experiences for families throughout the region. The annual concert has grown into more than an evening of entertainment. It serves as a celebration of the partnership between the hospital and the community it serves, offering an opportunity to come together during the Thanksgiving season to reflect on blessings and support neighbors in need.
"Each year, this concert is our way of saying thank you," says Dr. Terry Johnsson, Vice President of Mission Integration for the Oregon network of Adventist Health. "We are grateful for the trust our community places in us, and we're honored to continue this tradition that brings people together through music, faith and service."
Supporting our community
In the spirit of giving that has long been part of the event, attendees are encouraged to bring a nonperishable food item for Portland Adventist Community Services and a new pair of socks for Portland Rescue Mission to support individuals experiencing homelessness. Admission is free with a ticket and donation item.
