Residency Programs

Curriculum

We designed our pharmacy curriculum so that residents, pharmacists, and the medical team work closely together. We also can tailor our program to residents’ needs and interests, so that residents can learn more about the areas they are most interested in. Our pharmacy residents benefit from a side-by-side training relationship with medical residents, through morning reports, grand rounds, and daily interaction. The pharmacy residency program curriculum provides a rich learning experience in advanced clinical practice.

Core pharmacy rotations

Each rotation is six weeks in length. Core rotations include:

  • Orientation
  • Administration
  • Antimicrobial stewardship
  • Critical care
  • Transition of care
  • Internal medicine
  • Neonatal care

Longitudinal pharmacy rotations

Longitudinal rotations include:

  • Hospital pharmacy practice
  • Preceptorship
  • Research
  • Teaching certificate

Preceptorship and research opportunities

Residents are also expected to serve as preceptors to pharmacy students and interns. Residents attend various clinical and medical rounds as part of rotations. Each resident also completes a research project to be presented at the Western States Conference.
