Improving the health of our community

Guided by our mission, Adventist Health Ukiah Valley’s calling is to help improve the lives of our friends and neighbors in Mendocino County and beyond – not only by providing exceptional healthcare, but also by extending our impact beyond our hospital walls through strategic community investments.

Making an impact in our community

Every three years, Adventist Health Ukiah Valley completes a Community Health Needs Assessment (CHNA) that is grounded in comprehensive health and well-being data paired with the voices and experiences of community members. Guided by these insights, hospital and community leaders intentionally address the greatest health needs through the Community Health Implementation Strategy (CHIS).

The high needs outlined in our 2025 Community Health Needs Assessment are:

  • Access to care
  • Financial stability
  • Mental health

Diabetes education 

Our diabetes education team is always working in our community, checking blood sugars and providing education on diabetes as well as general nutrition education. They visit health benefit fairs as well as host classes in English and Spanish, helping people understand and manage their diabetes.

Sports Physicals and Back to School Fair 

We host a free Sports Physicals and Back to School Fair event every year in Ukiah, CA. This event provides free sports physicals for student athletes and also includes a back-to-school fair with resources and information. Health screenings are also an opportunity to ensure students are generally healthy and don’t have underlying conditions that will prevent them from participating in an active lifestyle. The fair is typically held in July.
