Recognized for the Quality Care We Provide to Our Neighbors
Feb 18, 2025
We are thrilled to announce a remarkable achievement at Adventist Health Mendocino Coast: we have received a perfect score of 100% in all measures from the Partnership Health Plan of California’s Hospital Quality Improvement Program for the 2023-2024 period. This accolade positions us among just eight hospitals to achieve such a distinction, and we extend our congratulations to our sister facility, Howard Memorial, for also reaching this milestone.
Understanding the Hospital Quality Improvement Program
The Partnership Health Plan of California (PHC) initiated the Hospital Quality Improvement Program (HQIP) in 2012 to promote high-quality healthcare delivery across California's hospitals. This program aligns with our organizational mission to support the health and well-being of the communities we serve. It emphasizes value-based care, focusing on various domains, including primary care, hospital care, long-term care, palliative care, perinatal care, specialty care, and behavioral health.
The HQIP includes a comprehensive set of quality metrics developed in collaboration with hospital representatives, ensuring that the measures reflect clinically meaningful outcomes. These metrics assess hospitals across several domains, including:
- Admissions
- Advanced care planning
- Clinical quality
- Patient safety
- Operational efficiency
- Patient experience
By employing this robust measurement framework, the HQIP aims to incentivize hospitals to meet performance targets, ultimately translating into enhanced patient care and safety.
The Importance of Our Achievement
Achieving a 100% score is not merely a number; it is a true insight into our dedication to quality improvement. This recognition highlights our commitment to delivering exceptional care and ensuring patient safety. It reflects the continued efforts of our team, who strive for excellence at every patient interaction.
Our performance in the HQIP serves as an inspiration for other healthcare institutions, showcasing what is possible when teams come together with a shared goal of improving healthcare outcomes.
While we celebrate this achievement, we understand that the journey of quality improvement is ongoing. Our team remains dedicated to upholding the highest standards of care and continuously seeking ways to enhance our services. We believe that every patient deserves the best care possible, and our recognition by the HQIP reinforces our commitment to making that a reality.
