Nationally Recognized for Excellence in Heart and Stroke Care

Adventist Health St. Helena has been nationally recognized by the American Heart Association for its commitment to providing high-quality cardiovascular and stroke care. The hospital earned four 2025 Get With The Guidelines® and Mission: Lifeline® achievement awards, underscoring its dedication to delivering evidence-based, life-saving care that improves outcomes and reduces hospital readmissions.

This year’s honors include:

  • Get With The Guidelines® – Stroke Gold Plus with Target: Type 2 Diabetes Honor Roll
  • Get With The Guidelines® – Rural Stroke Silver
  • Get With The Guidelines® – Rural Coronary Artery Disease STEMI Gold
  • Get With The Guidelines® – Rural Heart Failure Silver

“Adventist Health St. Helena is dedicated to advancing patient care with the latest standards in heart and stroke treatment,” said Steven Herber, MD, President of Adventist Health St. Helena. “I’m incredibly proud of our caregivers for the excellence they bring to our patients and for ensuring our community has access to this level of care close to home.”

According to the American Heart Association’s 2025 Statistical Update, heart disease and stroke remain the No. 1 and No. 5 causes of death in the U.S. Research consistently shows that outcomes improve when care teams follow up-to-date, evidence-based clinical guidelines—exactly what the Get With The Guidelines® and Mission: Lifeline® programs are designed to support.

“These awards are a reflection of the commitment our physicians, nurses and care teams bring to the bedside every day,” added Imee Dahl, DNP, RN, CENP, Operations and Patient Care Executive. “They represent more than clinical achievement—they demonstrate our shared mission to deliver safe, timely, and compassionate care to every patient who comes through our doors.”

These recognitions reflect the hospital’s continued participation in the American Heart Association’s quality improvement initiatives—Get With The Guidelines and Mission: Lifeline. These programs equip hospitals nationwide with the tools and training to consistently apply the latest clinical research, protocols, and performance measures in daily practice.

“These awards show Adventist Health St. Helena’s commitment to caring for those in their community who need cardiovascular care,” said Donald Lloyd-Jones, past volunteer president of the American Heart Association and current volunteer chair of the Association’s Quality Oversight Committee. “By following the American Heart Association’s quality improvement protocols, Adventist Health St. Helena can help realize our shared vision of improved patient outcomes, fewer readmissions and lower mortality rates — a win for health care systems, families and communities.”

With this recognition, Adventist Health St. Helena continues to demonstrate leadership in clinical excellence and reinforces its role as a trusted provider of high-quality, whole-person care in the Napa Valley and surrounding region.
