Aug 25, 2025
Adventist Health Howard Memorial Hospital has received the Overall Hospital Quality Five-Star Rating for the second year in a row from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), the highest possible rating a hospital can achieve.
"Earning the CMS Five-Star Rating for a second year in a row is a direct reflection of the daily dedication and operational excellence our entire team brings to patient care," said Jeff Mock, Operations Executive at Adventist Health Howard Memorial. "This recognition validates the intentional work we’ve done to align our systems, processes, and people around one shared goal—delivering exceptional, safe, and efficient care. I’m incredibly proud of our team’s commitment to excellence and the positive impact we’re making in the lives of those we serve.”
According to CMS, the Overall Star Rating summarizes a variety of measures across five areas of quality into a single star rating for each hospital. The measures include mortality, safety, readmission, Patient experience and timely & effective care. Each hospital has a star rating that ranges from one to five stars, with five stars signifying the highest quality.
Of the over 4,600 hospitals evaluated by CMS, Adventist Health Howard Memorial is only one of nine hospitals in the Northern California area to achieve this five-star rating. Only 10% of hospitals nationwide have earned five stars.
