Elevating Cardiac Care and Trauma Services With Expanded Radiology Wing and Second Advanced CT Scanner
Jan 29, 2026
Adventist Health Castle held a blessing for its newly expanded radiology wing, marking the official introduction of a second CT scanner and a significant advancement in diagnostic care for the Windward community. As the only level III trauma Center on Windward O’ahu and a CMS five-star hospital for the third consecutive year, Adventist Health Castle continues to elevate the standard of care.
The expansion features the Aquilion ONE™ GENESIS CT scanner, by Canon Medical Systems, strengthening the hospital’s cardiac imaging capabilities and supporting its Level III Trauma services. This state-of-the-art CT system enables whole-heart cardiac angiography in a single heartbeat, capturing the entire heart in one rapid rotation. Its advanced capability allows clinicians to perform highly detailed, non-invasive coronary CT angiograms with exceptional clarity, reduced motion artifacts, and improved consistency, which are particularly beneficial for patients with irregular heart rhythms or limited ability to hold their breath. Advanced image reconstruction technology further enhances image quality while supporting lower radiation dose, improving both diagnostic confidence and patient safety.
The expanded radiology wing and second CT scanner significantly enhance Adventist Health Castle’s trauma readiness. With faster scan times and increased imaging capacity, care teams can quickly assess traumatic injuries and make critical, time-sensitive decisions when every second counts.
From 2019 to 2025, Adventist Health Castle invested more than $65 million in strategic growth initiatives, including expanding operating rooms, upgrading imaging technology, and opening new primary care and specialty clinics, reflecting its ongoing commitment as a nonprofit organization reinvesting in the health of the community it serves.
“With this radiology wing expansion, we are investing in technology that directly improves how quickly and accurately we can care for our community,” said Chase Aalborg, President of Adventist Health Castle. “It strengthens our cardiac, emergency, and trauma services while enhancing comfort and safety for our patients.”
This investment reinforces Adventist Health Castle’s commitment to delivering high-quality, patient-centered care, ensuring the community continues to benefit from advanced technology and clinical capabilities.
