Becker’s Ranks Adventist Health Mendocino Coast a Top Clean Hospital
May 21, 2025
Adventist Health Mendocino Coast Hospital and Adventist Health Howard Memorial Hospital have been named among the Top 374 Cleanest Hospitals in the United States by Becker’s Hospital Review, based on the latest data from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). Both hospitals earned a prestigious 5-star cleanliness rating, a distinction awarded to only a small number of facilities nationwide and just 16 hospitals in California.
This honor is based on patient feedback collected through the Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) survey—a nationally standardized tool used by CMS to measure patient experiences during hospital stays. Cleanliness is one of several key indicators evaluated by the survey and is critical to ensuring patient safety, comfort, and satisfaction.

“We are honored by this recognition, which reflects the daily commitment of our Environmental Services (EVS) and Facility Management teams and every caregiver who contributes to a healing and welcoming environment,” said Eric Stevens, Chief Operating Officer and Northern California Network President. “Cleanliness is more than aesthetics—it's a cornerstone of quality care and patient safety.”
The achievement showcases the dedication of Adventist Health teams to providing an exceptional standard of care across the region.
“Our teams take immense pride in their work, and this recognition is a testament to their attention to detail, their compassion, and their commitment to excellence,” said Jeff Mock, Operations Executive for Mendocino County. “This is a celebration of their efforts to ensure our hospitals are safe, clean, and comforting places to receive care.”
